Lokesh Bhardwaj: Ancient Rishi with WiFi
Lokesh Bhardwaj is an Indian author and academic. He writes in both English and Hindi and is known for his historical-fiction series The Flames of Aryavarta. In addition to his literary career, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to be University), Haridwar.
Early Life and Background
Lokesh Bhardwaj was born and raised in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India. He belongs to a Hindu Brahmin family with ancestral roots in the historical Panchal region (present-day Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh). His forefathers are described as having served as Raj Purohits and Raj Vaidyas in the region.
He grew up in a family deeply associated with education, literature, and traditional Indian scholarship. His grandfather was a Bhagwat Katha speaker, an English teacher, a Vedanta scholar who imparted spiritual teachings, and a practicing astrologer.
His father, Balkrishna Sharma Shastri, has worked as a Sanskrit teacher, journalist, and poet. His mother, Poonam Sharma, was a Hindi teacher and an admirer of the works of Munshi Premchand.
He has two younger siblings: Devesh Bhardwaj and Bhawna Bhardwaj.
Growing up in an environment shaped by literature, Sanskrit scholarship, and religious discourse influenced his early interest in storytelling and writing.
Education
Bhardwaj completed his primary education at Madhav Rao Devle Shiksha Mandir, Haridwar. He later attended Saraswati Vidya Mandir, where he completed his high school and intermediate education.
He pursued higher education in engineering and earned a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology.
In 2021, he completed his Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur.
Academic and Professional Career

In 2021, Bhardwaj joined Gizmo Story as a Project Manager, where he worked in a technical and managerial capacity.
In 2024, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to be University), Haridwar, as an Assistant Professor. His academic interests are aligned with electrical engineering and technical education.
Literary Career
Bhardwaj developed an interest in writing during his childhood. In 2015, he began publishing short stories and poetry through online blogs and digital platforms. Over time, his writings appeared in various magazines and newspapers.
Awards
